Community Housing Office

The Community Housing Office provides administrative and technical support related to affordable housing issues and coordinates the efforts of various town boards and committees to develop affordable housing opportunities and implement the Town’s Community Housing Plan.  This office works with the Sudbury Housing Trust, the Community Preservation Committee (CPC), and the Sudbury Housing Authority (SHA).

Detailed Statement of Revenues and Expenditures The Sudbury Housing Trust Fund is a separate fund maintained by the Town. As specified in the Trust charter, the Town is the Custodian of the fund and manages the transactions and oversight. This is like all other special funds of the Town where the fund does not have their own financial function. The Trust financial information is reported in the Town financial statements, and the Trust has a separate audit performed annually – both are posted on the Town website. This AI report is a requirement of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Recipients of all HUD housing grants are required to certify that grants are administered in conformity with fair housing law. The report is required every 5 years.

Fiscal Impact of Mixed-Income Housing Developments The Fiscal Impact of Mixed-Income Housing Developments on Massachusetts Municipalities published by the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute is a compilation of the research to determine whether mixed-income developments that have been built in the state did, in fact, place new burdens on their communities. They incorporated extensive field work in seven municipalities with mixed-income, homeownership developments, and found that 40B projects - mixed-income housing units - have the same fiscal impact as the vast majority of their single family neighbors.
