After
passing in front of the mill, turn left up the brick walkway that serves
the Martha-Mary Chapel which was built from timber knocked down by the 1938
hurricane to serve as a chapel for the Wayside Inn Boys School. Ground was
broken in 1939 and the weathervane installed on Ford's birthday, July 30,
1940. Services were held there daily until the School closed in 1947. Ford
decreed that all materials used in construction had to be found on the property
and all work performed by people who lived, worked, or attended school there.
