Property Exemptions are conferred by the State Legislature under  Mass. General Laws, Chapter 59, Section 5.  The categories of individuals for whom exemptions are conferred are Disabled Veterans with a wartime service connected disability of not less than 10%, applicants who are Blind, certain persons over the age of 70 with limited income and assets, and those individuals who are aged, infirm and  suffering financially. <\/P><P>As used in the context of Property Taxes a Deferral is a delay in paying property taxes.  A tax deferral is available to persons over the age of 65 who have an annual income of $40,000 or less.  <\/P><P>Contact the Assessors Office for further information or applications.
