According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, per- and polyfluorinated substances, or PFAS, are a group of chemicals used to make fluoropolymer coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease, and water. PFAS can be found in a wide range of consumer products, from lipstick to raincoats to non-stick cookware. These chemicals do not break down in the environment, can move through soils and contaminate drinking water sources, and can build up in fish and wildlife.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The Sudbury Water District reports it has detected PFAS in the water supply at concentrations &#8220;relatively close&#8221; to the State&#8217;s maximum concentration limit.
