State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan, Sudbury Fire Chief William Miles, and Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix announced the cause of the January 19, 2016 fire at 4 Brooks Road is arson. It appears that someone forced their way into the single family home prior to the fire which was set in a second floor bedroom. No one was home at the time of the fire; there were no casualties, but the family\u2019s cat did perish in the fire that caused an estimated $350,000 in damages.<\/p>\n
Anyone who saw or heard anything around 7:30 p.m. that night are asked to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229, confidentially, 24-hours a day, or the Sudbury Police Department at 978-443-1042. The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program that provides rewards of up to $5,000 for information that helps solve the case. The program is funded by the property and casualty insurance companies of Massachusetts.<\/p>\n
