Whalen reports that the Sudbury Fire Department rescued a man who fell through the ice on Willis Lake this afternoon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif\">At 3:36 p.m., Sudbury Public Safety Dispatch received a call from a man who had fallen through the ice while cross-country skiing on Willis Lake, but was able to hold onto bushes to keep himself above the water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif\">Sudbury Fire and Police personnel responded.&nbsp; Upon arrival, three firefighters donned ice rescue suits and went onto the pond with an ice rescue sled and were able to rescue the man and bring him to safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif\">The man was subsequently transported to Emerson Hospital for evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif\">&#8220;This is a great example of our firefighters putting their extensive training to use to help someone in need,&#8221; Chief Whalen said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #212529;font-family: 'Segoe UI',sans-serif\">The Wayland Fire Department provided a mutual aid ambulance during the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/cdn.sudbury.ma.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/294\/2019\/02\/ICE-RESCUE.jpeg?version=b183879e5e6110d6750d6038a8959068\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-678\" src=\"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/fire\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/294\/2019\/02\/ICE-RESCUE-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/fire\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/294\/2019\/02\/ICE-RESCUE-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/fire\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/294\/2019\/02\/ICE-RESCUE.jpeg 320w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chief John M.
