Holiday Open House at the Hosmer House

The Hosmer House museum will host its annual Holiday Open House on the first two weekends of December, 2018. The dates this year are Saturday, December 1st & Sunday, December 2nd followed by Saturday, December 8th & Sunday, December 9th.

This year a town-wide Menorah and Tree Lighting will kick-off the holiday festivities on Saturday, December 1st commencing at 4:30 on the Sudbury Town Common. The Hosmer House will be open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on that evening to partake in the celebration. For all other dates The Hosmer Holiday will be open to the public from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm.

This year’s theme is “Hosmer’s Winter Wonderland”. Numerous Sudbury clubs and nonprofit organizations have volunteered to setup and display festive holiday decorations with an emphasis on Ice, Snow and the wondrous winter season. Please join the Sudbury Historical Commission in celebrating the holidays with complimentary refreshments and holiday cheer in a Winter Wonderland setting. Here is a list of the groups participating and the title of their exhibit:

The Daughters of the American Revolution (“Dressing for the Winter Ball”); HOPEsudbury (“HOPEfull Houses”); Janice Milley Gold Star Mother (“Gold Star Family Tree”); The Parmenter Foundation (“Winter in the Woods”); the Sudbury Garden Club (“A Dollhouse Dream – Celebrating Diversity”); Sudbury Girl Scout Troops 66245 and 78136 (“Jan Brett’s The Mitten”); the Sudbury Historical Society (“Carolers Christmas Cheer”); the Sudbury Valley Trustees (“Outdoors with Nature”); the Sudbury Villagers (“Nutcrackers”); and the Thursday Garden Club of Sudbury (“Winter’s Feast”).

The Sudbury Boy Scouts will once again generously donate a tree from their Holiday Tree sale, which will be on display on the back patio.

Holiday gifts for purchase, including homemade gingerbread men, will be available at the Hosmer Holiday Store. Admission is free yet donations at the door are welcome. All proceeds from the store and donations go toward funding Hosmer House restorations, activities and events.

The Hosmer House is located at 299 Old Sudbury Road in Sudbury Center at the traffic lights intersecting route 27 and Concord Road. Ample parking is available behind the Sudbury Town Hall.
