{"id":1758,"date":"2022-02-16T09:10:37","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T14:10:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/historicalcommission\/?p=1758"},"modified":"2022-02-16T09:23:13","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T14:23:13","slug":"historic-preservation-plan-public-forum","status":"public-archive","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/historicalcommission\/2022\/02\/16\/historic-preservation-plan-public-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Historic Preservation Plan Public Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Communitywide Historic Preservation Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Town of Sudbury is currently in the process of preparing a Communitywide Historic Preservation Plan under the leadership of the Historical Commission and the Historic Districts Commission, with support from the Planning &amp; Community Development Department and the Town&#8217;s preservation planning consultant, Heritage Strategies, LLC. The Historic Preservation Plan is an implementation action called for in the 2021 Sudbury Master Plan and is funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Historical Commission matched with some of the Town\u2019s Community Preservation Act funds.<\/p>\n<p>On <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 7:00 PM<\/strong><\/span><em>,<\/em> the Town will conduct a public forum on the Historic Preservation Plan via Zoom as part of the planning process to engage interested residents, provide information, and gather input.<\/p>\n<p>Information on how to join the Public Forum can be found at the link below:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"mtLrZq3BFi\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/historicalcommission\/meeting\/historical-commission-meeting-wednesday-february-16-2022\/\">Historical Commission Meeting: Wednesday, February 16, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Historical Commission Meeting: Wednesday, February 16, 2022&#8221; &#8212; Historical Commission\" src=\"https:\/\/sudbury.ma.us\/historicalcommission\/meeting\/historical-commission-meeting-wednesday-february-16-2022\/embed\/#?secret=mtLrZq3BFi\" data-secret=\"mtLrZq3BFi\" width=\"584\" height=\"329\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Also, in February, an online survey will be posted to gather information on the interests and preferences of residents. We invite your participation in these events and other future processes. It is anticipated draft recommendations for the plan will be prepared in March and April of 2022, with additional outreach and a second public forum being held to review them. The final plan is expected to be completed by the end of June of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Goals of the Historic Preservation Plan are recognition of the role that historic buildings and landscape resources play in Sudbury\u2019s identity, character, and quality of life, and identification of ways in which the Town\u2019s historic character can be preserved and enhanced through cooperative action.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past few months, background information has been collected on historic resources and various preservation planning topics in Sudbury. Currently, Heritage Strategies, LLC, is reaching out to local stakeholders for input on historic preservation issues and interests.
