In the past week, the Sudbury Board of Selectmen, the Sudbury Town Manager, the Historic Districts Commission and the Conservation Commission have all publically voiced their opposition to the proposed Eversource transmission line through Sudbury.<\/p>\n
The Board of Selectmen have taken a strong stand against the overhead transmission line and, after an executive session this week, announced their intention to seek intervention as a party in the siting board review process.<\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to the Governor and sent to several agencies across the state, the Board urged our legislators to join the residents of Sudbury in opposing the project. \u201cThis project creates an unfair burden to our community,\u201d the Board wrote. \u201cIt would decimate our environment, destroy our land and cause irreparable harm to our community. We have a duty to protect our town.\u201d<\/p>\n
Town Manager Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues, Esq. joined the Board in her outrage, writing to Governor Baker, \u201cThe community impact caused by this project is significant. The impact on our environment is unacceptable. The burden on Sudbury is unacceptable, the plan is unacceptable and I urge Eversource, our legislators and the State to stand with Sudbury to demand better for our town.\u201d<\/p>\n
