Water Outage: Friday, July 1, 2022

UPDATE 7/1/22: WATER OUTAGE IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL 2PM ON FRIDAY, 7/1/22.

Atkinson Pool, Park & Recreation and Senior Center will be closed for the duration of the water outage on Friday, July 1.

Outage Duration Estimate:
5 hours (8 am – 1 pm approximately)

Water Main Disconnection

Please Be advised: On Friday, July 1st water service on Fairbank Road (15-40) will be temporarily suspended during the hours of 8 am – 1 pm (approximately) allowing for the disconnection of an old water main. Outage duration is a best-estimate based on past emergency events it is not an exact time. Please make arrangements to be without water during this period.

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work hard to restore water service to this area as quickly as possible.

What to expect once water is restored? Those in close proximity to this area of town may experience fluctuating pressure (air in pipes) or discolored water (mineral sediment lifting from the bottom of the pipes and traveling with the water-flow inside the main.) Once water is restored running a cold tap briefly will assist in clearing your service line of air and minerals.

Is the water safe to drink? Slight discoloration may sometimes linger for a few hours, it is not harmful to your health and only temporarily affects the appearance of the water, it does not influence water quality. Water conditions typically improve overnight.

The Select Board consists of five members – each elected for a three-year term. They serve without compensation. The Select Board acts as the primary policy-making body of the Town. They provide oversight for matters in litigation, act as the licensing authority for a wide variety of licenses, and enact rules and regulations for such matters as traffic control. Further, the Board serves, along with the Town Treasurer, as Trustees of Town Trusts. Staff in the Select Board’s Office accept articles for Town Meeting, prepare Town Meeting Warrants and produce the Town’s Annual Report. Staff also serve as liaison between the public and the Board, handle all phone calls, visitors and correspondence directed to the Office and maintain all records of Select Board meetings. They also maintain the database of all Boards and Committees appointments and resignations.
