> GET YOUR RESUME INTO HUMAN HANDS
Wednesday, December 6th 6:30pm – 8:00 PM

Did you know that many companies use computerized applicant tracking systems to screen resumes before a hiring manager sees them? This workshop explains why these systems exist and how to optimize your resume so it gets past those systems into human hands. You will practice identifying key words in job descriptions and learn common formatting features and content issues that can cause you to get screened out.

After completing this workshop, you will be able to:

1) Identify keywords that you need to include in your resume.

2) Recognize formatting features that will “confuse” applicant tracking systems.
3) Modify your resume’s content and formatting to improve the likelihood that your resume will be reviewed by a human being.

 
> LINKEDIN – CREATING A TARGETED PROFILE
Wednesday, December 13th 6:30pm – 8:00 PM

Is your LinkedIn profile helping or hurting your job search? This workshop, designed for LinkedIn users who want stand out when targeting a specific industry or job, will teach you how to make strategic decisions about your profile’s content. You will also learn about Networking etiquette and how to effectively search for jobs using LinkedIn.

After completing this workshop, you will be able to:

1) Tailor your profile to support a strategic job search or career change.

2) Take advantage of LinkedIn features that can help with your job search.
3) Learn best practices and incorporate them into your profile and job search.

Wendy Gelberg is a Career Navigator at JVS CareerSolution who provides one-on-one coaching, writes resumes, and facilitates job search workshops. She earned a Certificate of Advanced Study (C.A.S.) from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and a Master’s Degree in Education from Boston University. She is a Certified Professional Resume Writer, Certified Employment Interview Professional, MBTI® Certified Facilitator, and Certified International Job and Career Transition Coach.
