Activities can include everything from community sings, period costume balls, and theatrical performances to sporting events, fashion shows, educational programs, and town beautification projects–plus everything in between. Although not required, organizations and businesses are encouraged to use the opportunity to raise funds for themselves, the Sudbury Celebrates 375 Committee, or others in town. Groups can also participate by entering a float that pays tribute to the 375th anniversary or by marching as a group in the 2014 July 4th parade.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Committee has also created a speaker’s bureau of authorities on Sudbury’s history, including several direct descendants of the town’s founders, who are available to speak at group meetings and special events. Topics range from histories of Sudbury’s settlement from the Goodnow family’s perspective to the town’s various protective services, such as the Minute companies and fire department, as well as the town’s agricultural past, featuring Sudbury’s run as the country’s "Carnation Capital."<\/p>\n
\n\tAll event and project ideas should be cleared in advance through the committee to avoid duplication of efforts.
