Sudbury Day to Feature Hot Air Balloon Rides Courtesy of RE\/MAX Carriage Way: Proceeds to Benefit Warm2Kids Mentoring Program <\/P>
SUDBURY, MA\u2014Those attending the third annual Sudbury Day Festival on September 18th can get a bird\u2019s eye view of the world\u2019s cultures by taking a ride in \u201cBig Max\u201d, the RE\/MAX International hot air balloon. The tethered balloon rides start at 3:00 PM (wind and weather permitting) and will run through 5:00 PM. Riders will \u201cfly\u201d more than 20 feet above the crowds in the balloon\u2019s massive four-person basket. The balloon itself will remain tethered to the ground by staging ropes tied to motor vehicles and guided by eight handlers.<\/P>
Sudbury resident and realtor Anne Hollows of RE\/MAX Carriage Way in Wayland, will also give away four free rides to sixteen lucky people (four balloon baskets accommodating four riders each). To enter to win, sign up at Hollows\u2019 web site www.sudburyproperties.com<\/a> or fill out an entry form at the Sudbury Shaw\u2019s on Route 20.<\/P> All proceeds from the rides benefit the WARM2Kids Charitable Foundation, the nonprofit arm of WARM2Kids (We\u2019re All Role Models to Kids) founded by former Boston Celtic M.L. Carr. The Maynard-based organization is dedicated to supporting development, education, and empowerment as a means to helping youths achieve their potential. \u201cThis day is all about helping our kids get a better sense of the world\u2019s diversity,\u201d Hollows emphasized. \u201cI wanted to make sure we used the balloon to draw attention to kids in our own community who don\u2019t necessarily have the same advantages many of us do.\u201d<\/P> \u201cBig Max\u201d, a 2003 Aerostar S-60A, is one of two full-size, competition class balloons that travel all over New England. It is one of more than 100 hot air balloons that fly for RE\/MAX all over the U.S. Europe and Canada, the physical embodiment of the company\u2019s corporate slogan \u201cAbove the Crowd.\u201d<\/P> The Sudbury Day Festival is a celebration of the world\u2019s many cultures. It takes place from noon-5:00 PM in Sudbury Center (intersection of Route 27 and Concord Road) and features two stages of thrilling international performances, ethnic food sold by area restaurants, exhibits by community organizations, artisans, and local businesses, and loads of children\u2019s activities and crafts. Admission is free, and people from all communities, not just Sudbury, are invited to attend.<\/P> Sudbury Day is made possible in part by a grant from The Sudbury Foundation. \u201cThe support from organizations like The Sudbury Foundation allows us to make this a unique celebration of the diversity of our friends and neighbors,\u201d says festival organizer Abby Ward.
