SUDBURY, MA\u2014 Sudbury Town Center will be transformed into a Mediterranean setting when the Sudbury Day Festival takes place on Saturday, September 17, from noon to 5:00 PM on the Peter Noyes Elementary School grounds. In recognition of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy, this year\u2019s entertainment will feature many performances with a Mediterranean accent.
Hosted again by the multi-talented Jim Parmentier, a member of the Sudbury Savoyards who is co-producing the group\u2019s winter performance of \u201cThe Grand Duke\u201d by Gilbert & Sullivan, the Main Stage offers five hours of free performances including: the Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School A Cappella Group; the colorful sounds and sights of Pajda\u0161i, which performs Croatian Tamburica choral music and dance; children\u2019s author Norah Dooley, who will tell stories and read from her series of books called Everybody Cooks\u2026Rice, Soup and Noodles (Sudbury Farms will prepare a recipe from one of her books and she will also sign books, courtesy of Marlborough Savings Bank); the Sudbury Savoyards, who will perform Italian and French opera selections; Cuor D\u2019Italia, an Italian folk dance troupe; Stars of Baladi, a Middle Eastern band accompanied by several belly dancers; and Rakiya, a lively Gypsy band featuring music of the Balkans.<\/P>
These performances are made possible in part by a grant from the Sudbury Foundation.
