On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Sudbury Select Board voted to form the Liberty Ledge \/ Sewataro Advisory Committee to explore possible uses of this town-owned property, and offer an advisory report on recommended uses to the Select Board. The event is free, but we will be collecting non-perishables for the Sudbury Community Food Pantry for those who wish to contribute!<\/p>\n

Property Access – Fall 2025<\/h2>\n

9\/2\/25<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 44 acre Sewataro property at Liberty Ledge is open to resident access 7 days a week from dawn to dusk. This includes the fishing pond as well as the tennis and basketball courts – please be sure to bring your gear. If bringing a dog, please remember to keep them on leash and pick up after them.<\/p>\n

Please note that the Sudbury Resident swim program is finished for the year – thanks to all who joined us on the weekends!<\/p>\n

Summer Access and Swimming 2025<\/h2>\n

Sewataro Swim Pond<\/strong> – 8\/15\/25<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re happy to share that algae levels in the swim pond have returned to normal, and there is no longer any blue-green algae present! The pond is open this Saturday and Sunday 9:30am-12:30pm and 1-4pm for resident swim.<\/p>\n

Sewataro Swim Pond<\/strong> – 8\/8\/25<\/strong>
\nToday, we received the results of our algae test, informing us that we are experiencing a moderate level of blue green algae in our swim pond.
\nUnfortunately, this means we have closed the Swim Pond until the algae cell counts return to safe levels. As you might have heard in the news, numerous beaches across New England have been closed this summer because of high levels of blue green algae in the water – a problem largely linked to increasingly frequent heatwaves.
\nThe pond is CLOSED for resident swim this weekend, 8\/9\/25-8\/10\/25. Please stay tuned for further updates.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Sudbury<\/a>Sudbury Resident Swim<\/strong> – Beginning Saturday, June 28, 2025 the pond is open for Sudbury residents on weekends (and July 4) from 9:30am-12:30pm and from 1pm-4pm. Sign-ups are not required at this time, but please bring your ID so we can confirm Sudbury residency.  <\/p>\n

Based on further testing of the swimming and boating ponds, and in collaboration with the Sudbury Conservation Office and Board of Health, we have determined that the ponds will not reopen this summer. <\/p>\n

Water Quality Update: Fishing\/Boating Pond<\/strong> 7\/26\/24<\/p>\n

Message from Camp Sewataro<\/em><\/p>\n

We are writing with some news about our fishing\/boating pond. As you know, safety is always our #1 priority, and as such we test our ponds weekly for E. coli, and monthly for water quality. Late this afternoon we received a call from Water & Wetland (the lake management company that does our testing), informing us that blue green algae levels in our fishing\/boating pond are currently unsafe for activities.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this means we have closed our fishing\/boating pond for the immediate future, and out of an abundance of caution, we\u2019ll be closing the swimming pond while we await lab results from swimming pond samples.<\/strong> As you may have read or seen on the news, there have been several beach closings around the state this week, attributed to an excess of blue green algae in the water.<\/p>\n

We will of course keep you updated, and will share new information as soon as it is available to us. <\/p>\n

As of September 1, 2022 the entire 44 acre property at Liberty Ledge is open for resident access, 7 days a week, dawn to dusk, through May 31. Remember to bring your own gear to enjoy the tennis and basketball courts and fishing pond.  <\/p>\n

Please note that leashed pets are now permitted on property, and remember to clean up after your pet!  We have provided waste receptacles throughout the property.  <\/p>\n
