The boards of selectmen in Wayland and Sudbury signed an agreement this week to share a recreation director, a fiscally advantageous move that Wayland Town Manager Fred Turkington called “a win-win for both towns.”

Nancy McShea, the current Park & Recreation director in Wayland, will become recreation director for Sudbury and Wayland on July 1, splitting a 40-hour work week equally between the towns.

“This sends a very powerful message to taxpayers that we are trying to be creative in saving their hard-earned dollars,” said John Drobinski, a Sudbury selectman.

Sudbury Town Manager Maureen Valente said a shared director will make two “active thriving recreation departments” with “high quality staff” even stronger.
