Property Exemption/Deferral Deadline May 3, 2010
As used in the context of property taxes an Exemption is a release from paying all or a portion of a tax assessed. Property Exemptions are conferred by the State Legislature under Mass. General Laws, Chapter 59, Section 5. Among the categories of individuals for whom exemptions are conferred: are Disabled Veterans with a wartime service connected disability of not less than 10%, applicants who are Blind, certain persons over the age of 65 with limited income and assets, cetain surviving spouses with limited assets . As used in the context of Property Taxes a Deferral is a delay in paying property taxes.
