Why should I care about the Master Plan and the update?

Answer

The update of the Town’s Master Plan is an incredibly important process. As noted above, local decisions are based on the vision and goals presented in the document. A lot has changed since the current Master Plan was adopted (2001), not only in Sudbury but also in the region, state, and nation. Locally, significant public and private projects have been built since 2001 that will affect the Town’s perspective on growth. Shifts are occurring related to who lives in our community, which will affect how we understand the future of our Town, what services will be needed, what types of homes people want, and how we get around. For better local decision-making, facts and statistics need to be updated to reflect what Sudbury looks like today and revisit what we said we were going to do and why.
