Sudbury, MA (September 16, 2004) — The Sudbury Cable Committee today announced that Sudbury Channel 8 Access Television has recently moved into a brand new, 1000 sq. ft. facility at the new L/S High School, and is actively seeking local residents who want to volunteer to assist with local productions, including the upcoming HOPESudbury Telethon.

“The Community Access Television volunteer program is designed to equip residents with basic knowledge so that they can start producing local television productions,” said Jeff Winston, Sudbury Cable Committee Chairperson. “We have recently moved into our new facility, and we’re looking for volunteers to take our fall training courses so they can help cablecast the HOPESudbury Telethon in November. In addition, volunteers are needed to cablecast Selectmen’s meetings, other civic events (like the upcoming League of Women Voters presentation in
October), sporting events, and to produce their own programs. Training is conducted both at our new studio facility at L/S, and at our cablecasting facility at the Sudbury Town Hall. Once trained, volunteers can choose the events they want to cover, and/or the programming they want to produce”.

Community Access Television is available to any resident or nonprofit organization free of charge. All programming is cablecast on COMCAST channel 8. Community Access Television professionals are available
during upcoming free training workshops to provide in-studio training to teach Sudbury residents to direct, operate cameras, audio equipment, graphics, and cover local events and public meetings. Residents may register for any one course, or as many as they are interested in. The courses will be held at the Sudbury Channel 8 Access facility at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, 390 Lincoln Rd. on Thursday evenings, unless otherwise noted. Advance registration is required, please call 978-443-9507 or email Sudbury’s Access Coordinator, Lynn Puorro, at Lynn_Puorro@cable.comcast.com.
