The Sudbury Community Preservation Committee proudly announces that it has received 100% of state matching funds under the Community Preservation Act (CPA), based upon FY 03 local surcharge revenues. The state matching funds announced earlier this month amount to $1,030,840 and were part of the $27,000,000 distributed by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue to the 54 participating CPA communities throughout Massachusetts. The state matching funds double the amount of funds collected by the Town of Sudbury in FY 03 for eligible projects in the categories of open space, historic preservation, community housing, and recreation, and effectively discount approved expenditures funded by the local surcharge by 50%. To date, the Sudbury CPA fund has collected almost $2.5 million, with projected funds for the next fiscal year expected to equal the total revenue collected this year, both by local collections and the state match, for an additional $2 million. This past year the Community Preservation Committee recommended funding for three specific projects which received approval by Town Meeting in April, 2003. The Community Preservation Committee is currently reviewing six proposals submitted under a Request for Proposal deadline of October 15, 2003 in anticipation of Town Meeting in April, 2004.
