Spray Schedule for the Week Beginning July 24, 2023

The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is planning to use a truck mounted aerosol sprayer to apply Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724.807) at a rate of 1 oz per acre in Bedford, North Reading, Sudbury and Reading during the week beginning Monday, July 24, 2023. Spraying will be done between sunset and 11:30 PM.
The spray area descriptions are intended to provide a general description for where mosquito spraying will take place. The spray routes will include many more roads than are listed below.
On Monday, July 24, 2023, spraying is scheduled for areas of Bedford that are located in the vicinity of Concord Road, Davis Road, Carlisle Road, Dudley Road, North Road, Wildwood Drive and Gould Road.
On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, spraying is scheduled for areas of North Reading that are located near Grant Street, Southwick Road, Park Street, Winter Street, Ridgeway Road, Viewcrest Road, Hillview Road and Westward Circle.
On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, spraying is scheduled for areas of Sudbury that are located in the vicinity of Powers Road, Mossman Road, Haynes Road, Morse Road, Longfellow Road, Pratt’s Mill Road, Churchill Street, Horse Pond Road, Stone Road, Robert Best Road and Hemlock Road.
On Thursday, July 27, 2023, spraying is scheduled for areas of Reading that are located west of Route 28 and north of Route 129. Also included are roads in the vicinity of Dustin Road, Berkeley Street, Bond Street and Mineral Street.
If any of the nights are postponed, spraying will be rescheduled for the following week.
The mosquito control product being used is Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724.807), and it’s being applied at 1 oz per acre. Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide. Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes. As with any pesticide, people should minimize their exposure. If residents see a spray truck approaching, they are advised to go indoors for a few minutes while the spray dissipates. Residents are also advised to close windows. Beekeepers do not need to take any special precautions since spraying begins after dusk. Zenivex E4 biodegrades rapidly and doesn’t build up in the environment.
