Spray Schedule for the Week Beginning July 29, 2024
The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is planning to use a truck mounted aerosol sprayer to apply Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724-807) at a rate of 1 oz per acre in Sudbury, Bedford, and Reading during the week beginning Monday, July 29, 2024. Spraying will be done between sunset and 11:30 PM.
Spray areas are determined by trap data, disease data, and historical data. Spraying is not conducted by request.
The following paragraphs are intended to provide a general description for where mosquito spraying will take place. The spray route will include many more roads than are listed below.
On Monday, July 29, 2024, spraying is scheduled for areas of Sudbury that are located in the vicinity of Belcher Drive, Willis Road, Powder Mill Road, Powers Road, Dakin Road, North Road, Ford Road, Mossman Road, Haynes Road, Pantry Road, Morse Road, and Thompson Drive.
On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, spraying is scheduled for areas of Bedford that are located in the vicinity of Washington Street, Winthrop Avenue, Marion Road, Evergreen Avenue, Short Street, Alaska Avenue, Cedar Ridge Terrace, Dunelm Road, Ledgewood Drive, Meadowbrook Road, and Sweeney Ridge Road.
On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, spraying is scheduled for areas of Sudbury that are located in the vicinity of Howell Road, Austin Road, Barton Drive, Oakwood Avenue, Reeves Street, Pratt’s Mill Road, Evergreen Road, Country Village Lane, and French Road.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, spraying is scheduled for areas of Reading that are located in the vicinity of Haverhill Street, Charles Street, Pearl Street, Libby Avenue, Belmont Street, Pleasant Street, Eaton Street, and Harvest Road.
The mosquito control product being used is Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724.807), and it’s being applied at 1 oz per acre. Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide. Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes. As with any pesticide, people should minimize their exposure. If residents see a spray truck approaching, they are advised to go indoors for a few minutes while the spray dissipates. Residents are also advised to close windows. Beekeepers do not need to take any special precautions since spraying begins after dusk. Zenivex E4 biodegrades rapidly and doesn’t build up in the environment.
