(From the International Association of Fire Chiefs) Fairfax, Va., June 11, 2009… Earlier today, the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to raise the world pandemic threat level on the novel H1N1 virus to Phase 6. This long-expected decision came in response to the spread of new infections in 74 countries around the world. It should be noted that the decision to raise the phase level reflects the spread of the virus and not its severity.
