In celebration of the Sudbury’s contribution to the American Revolution on the 250th anniversary, the Town’s Select Board recently created the Sudbury 250 Committee to plan for the commemoration of the events that led to our independence. The events are to be bookended by the 250th anniversaries of the muster of the Sudbury militia and the march to Concord on April 19 of 2025, and the Fourth of July celebrations of 2026.

The celebration kicks off with a logo design contest open to residents of any age, as well as to anyone with ties to Sudbury, such as Town employees and past residents. The winner receives bragging rights, such as recognition in all publicity and printed materials, plus the satisfaction of seeing the design on banners, bumper stickers, t-shirts, sweatshirts, programs, 250th memorabilia, and more.

The submission deadline is June 1, 2024, and all designs become the property of the Committee. Send either by email as a PNG or JPG file to sudbury250@sudbury.ma.us. The artist’s name, address, phone number and email address must be included.

Community groups and individuals, such as schools and religious institutions, art and cultural organizations, businesses, artists, and historians are encouraged to create and produce events and exhibits connected to Sudbury in the context of the American Revolution – and present such ideas to Sudbury 250 at sudbury250@sudbury.ma.us.

This anniversary, officially known as the semiquincentennial is being celebrated across the region (https://www.revolution250.org) and across the nation (https://america250.org/).
