Sudbury Celebrates 250 with Colonial Music

Deirdre Sweeney and Al Petty perform an extensive repertoire of 18th century dance music, as well as marches and laments, on flute, whistle, recorder and fife, gathered from manuscripts printed between the 17th and 19th centuries and arranged in counterpoint. They play regularly for colonial dancing as well as other occasions, and have long been active in related musical cultures, including particularly American fife and drum and traditional Irish music.
