September 4, 2014 is the 375th Anniversary of Sudbury’s incorporation. To Celebrate this milestone, a yearlong series of activities and events have been planned.

*** OUR TWO BIG EVENTS ***

Olde Time Family Community Fair

Saturday, August 23 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Location: Sudbury Town Center

The Fair will be a FUN family event for kids of ALL ages! There will be food, children’s games, dancing, live music, pony rides, a petting zoo, a flower-arranging contest, a baking contest with local chefs as judges, and so much MORE! The event celebrates Sudbury’s agricultural history as a farming community from its settlement in 1638 through the early 1950’s when it began its transition to a bedroom community.

For current fair information, please visit our new website at Getlocalma.com/Sudbury-375/.

Field Day and Fireworks

Saturday, September 6 from 12:00-9:00 p.m.

Location: Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School Athletic Fields, 390 Lincoln Road, Sudbury

With food, games, live music, family fun, and fireworks, this event will focus on the wonderful community that Sudbury has become by featuring booths sponsored by community organizations along “Main Street Sudbury.” These organizations will highlight their history and modern- day activities.

There will be a Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra Concert and Fireworks Finale at 8:00 p.m.!

Off- site parking with shuttle bus service will be available. Stay tuned for details.

For current Field Day information please visit our new web site at Getlocalma.com/Sudbury-375/.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are looking for volunteers to support both the Olde Time Family Community Fair and the Field Day and Fireworks events. These two events will have similar needs for volunteers. We will need help in some of the following areas:

•Assist with set-up before and on the event day

•Monitor parking lots

•Act as crossing guards (adults)

•Guide visitors

•Assist with accessibility (adults driving golf carts)

•Supervise games and races (groups of 2, 4 or 6 persons)

•Clean up during and at end of the event

Needless to say, we want as many children and adults as possible to participate in the activities of the day. Therefore, the larger the number of volunteers who step forward, the shorter the shifts will be, allowing the volunteers to also partake in the fun. If you, as an organization, wish to volunteer to oversee one of the above or other activities, please contact the Committee. Individual volunteers are also welcome. Community Service hours available for Lincoln Sudbury students.

For volunteer inquiries, contact Sue Rushfirth at sudbury375@gmail.com / (508) 265-8748.

CALL TO LOCAL BUSINESSES AND GROUPS FOR

“MAIN STREET SUDBURY” EVENTS:

Please think about having a booth showcasing your organization’s activities on “Main Street Sudbury” at the September 6th Field Day and Fireworks event at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Your booth can document your organization’s history, its current contributions to life in Sudbury, or the future of your organization. There is no charge to participate in this way. To reserve a booth on Main Street Sudbury, please contact; The Sudbury Celebrate 375 Committee at sudbury375@sudbury.ma.us

SUDBURY 375 MERCHANDISENOW AVAILABLE!

Logo souvenirs are now available. The logo design was the winner of a logo contest conducted by the Committee last fall. The logo was designed by Sudbury native and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate (2008) David Alderman. The logo is based on the granite road markers found throughout the town and region.

The souvenirs include T-shirts with the logo (blue on white shirts and white on light blue shirts), coffee mugs, car magnets, water bottles and beige baseball caps with the logo in blue.

Our newest souvenir is the Sudbury Celebrates 375: An Anniversary Coloring Book. Sudbury native and Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School graduate (2006), Robin DeSantis, has created sixteen lovely drawings to help you to discover some people and places in Sudbury’s colorful history. Robin worked on this project while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic (2010-2014), where she worked with at-risk youth and families.

All proceeds from the souvenir sales go to the fundraising efforts of the Sudbury Celebrates 375 Committee to support the Olde Time Family Community Fair and the Field Day and Fireworks Event.

All items are available for sale at:
