SUDBURY, MA – As Paris Hilton would say, “The equator–now that’s hot!” Indeed, Sudbury Center will be the hottest place in town when the Fifth Annual Sudbury Day Festival takes a journey to the countries surrounding the equator on Saturday, September 16, from noon to 5:00 PM. If it’s raining, the event will move indoors to its new location, the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School.

As always, the event will feature entertainment, food, children’s activities and more–from countries such as Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Columbia in South America, Kenya, Uganda, and The Sudan in Africa, and Malaysia and Indonesia in Southeast Asia. These countries are not only rich in their own individual cultures, but they also share common music, dances, and traditions, despite their separation by thousands of miles and entire oceans. New this year will be some main stage entertainment that is geared towards teens, including Hip-Hop and Brazilian Capoeira (a combination of martial arts and dance) performances.

Sudbury Day strives to bring the Sudbury community together for a shared cultural experience. There are many ways for you to get involved, so that you can meet and learn more about the people in our community:

    • Volunteer to help on one of the committees or on the day of the event. As thanks, each volunteer receives two free passports to the games area of the Children’s Pavilion, a $20 value. High School students are also eligible to receive Community Service credits.

    • Exhibit your business or nonprofit organization with a booth in The Marketplace

    • Sponsor the event and receive premier exposure for your business or organization

  • Share your special talent or culture with the Sudbury Day entertainment committee. Who knows, you may end up performing on the Sudbury Day Stage

You can stay in touch with Sudbury Day and get up-to-the-minute information, including parking advice, food options, and entertainment information in order to maximize your enjoyment of the day by joining our mailing list and becoming a “Sudbury Day Insider”;.
