Sudbury Day Entertainment to Provide View into Many Cultures.

On Saturday, September 20, the 2003 Sudbury Day Festival is bringing music, dance and theater from around the world to Sudbury Town Center. With three stages of free entertainment, festival visitors will be able to experience the cultures of such faraway places as the Congo, the Andes and New Delhi. Beginning at 12:30 noon and continuing until 5:00 p.m., Sudbury Day will be hosting the following entertainers.
The Main Stage
Dancers from the Greater Boston Chinese Cultural Council Association will open the festival with their colorful and historical dances of Mainland China. And after their tremendous reception at last year’s Sudbury Day, Inca Son will return with traditional music and dance of the Andes Mountains of Peru and Latin America in authentic and colorful Inca attire. The next stop is New Delhi. Senior students from the Triveni School of Dance will use song, dance and storytelling to share the ancient culture of India. The American Indian will be featured as Mystic Paper Beasts perform “Sky Tales,” a series of Native American stories told through mask, dance, puppet and painted scroll. And finally Rumbafrica brings Soukous music and dance of the Congo to Sudbury. Drawing on the rich culture of Africa, the original music and dance convey a message of peace with original songs in French, Swahili, Tshiluba and English.
The Children’s Pavilion
Lively and local performers will be featured on the Children’s Pavilion Stage. Look for your friends and neighbors in appearances by Mass Gymnastics, Robert Giorgio’s School of Tai Kwon Do, and Dancer’s Workshop. Also sharing their talents will be the European soccer stars of the MLS, with a show of special skills and tricks.
The Sudbury Stage
Relax in the shade, enjoy a wide variety of international cuisine, and listen to musical performances by Wayside Chorus of Sweet Adelines, Steve LaBonte, Ellen Hoffman and The Sudbury Savoyards.
