New CERT Training Class is Scheduled

The Sudbury Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), in conjunction with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), has scheduled a new CERT Training Class, which will begin March 11th. The registraton deadline for this class is March 4th.
The CERT Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community. CERT members who have already taken the course know and appreciate the information available, which is invaluable in the event of any natural or man-made disaster.
CERT members who have not participated in an official Training course can sign up for this program online at www.mass.gov/mema–on the menu bar on the right-hand side of the screen. (MEMA can no longer accept emailed or faxed applications.) Please make sure the information in your profile is correct, especially your email address. The new CERT Training course will take place at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Conference Room B, 390 Lincoln Road. One of the practical classes will be held elsewhere (TBD). The dates are: Tuesdays, March 11, 18, 25, April 1, 10 (a Thursday due to Sudbury Town Meeting), 15 & 22, with practical exam and graduation on Saturday, April 26. The weekday classes are from 6:30 to 9:30 PM, with the Saturday session from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
