The marketing period for two affordable housing units to be built by our local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Worcester has started. Habitat for Humanity provides housing ownership opportunities to households that may otherwise not be able to become homeowners. Theirs is a unique program, which involves a true partnership between the homeowner and Habitat. Habitat sells its homes at prices scaled to its family partners’ income and provides zero-interest financing. Applications to become a homeowner can only be obtained by attending one of several informational meetings to be held through September.
One of these homes has been set aside for applicants with Sudbury connections which include current residents, child or parent of Sudbury resident, and families with children currently enrolled in the schools. Local preference also includes persons who work for Sudbury, including employees of the Town of Sudbury, the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School system, the Sudbury Public School system, the Sudbury Water District, or the Sudbury Housing Authority.
The Habitat for Humanity – Homeownership Opportunity Information outlines the family selection criteria, income guidelines and a schedule of informational meetings where applications may be obtained.
