Dr. John Mullin, a nationally renowned planner and professor of planning at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, will be speaking at the Economic Development Committee (EDC) meeting on Tuesday, February 15 at 7:30 pm at the Fairbank Senior Center. A Maynard native, Dr. Mullin knows Sudbury well and will bring his personal and professional perspective on economic development issues to the committee. All interested residents are welcome at the meeting.

The Economic Development Committee was appointed by the Board of Selectmen in 1999 to develop opportunities to revitalize and strengthen the local economic base. Its primary mission is to raise the commercial tax base by promoting types of use that bring unencumbered revenue into the Town without adversely affecting the town’s character or its natural resources. After studying historical trends, current demographic profiles, and the recommendations of the draft Master Plan, the EDC will chart its course of action.
