Sudbury Community Electricity Aggregation
The Sudbury Community Electricity Aggregation (CEA) program leverages the power of the community to negotiate competitive electricity supply rates and clean energy. Residents and business owners are automatically enrolled in the program, but can opt out if they prefer. Launched in 2017, the program has collectively saved about $11.7 million for the community, or about $2,210 per average residential customer, as of Spring 2026 compared to Eversource’s basic electricity supply cost during the same period!
UPDATE AUGUST 2026: Effective August 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027, the Sudbury CEA program will continue to offer significantly lower electricity supply rates compared to the Eversource Residential Basic Service supply rate. The current Sudbury CEA supply rates are guaranteed through December 2029, while the Eversource Residential Basic Service supply rate is subject to change every 6 months. Sudbury Community Electricity Aggregation (CEA) is a program offered by the Town of Sudbury to provide new electricity supply options and more renewable energy to Sudbury residents and businesses. With Sudbury CEA, Eversource continues to deliver electricity, repair poles and outages and manage all electricity billing, while the source and cost of the electricity supply is chosen by the Town.

Please keep in mind that future savings cannot be guaranteed because Eversource Basic Service rates change every six months for residential and commercial customers and every three months for industrial customers. Eligible customers will receive an opt-out letter package detailing the program and ways to leave the program (opt out); those who choose not to opt out will be automatically enrolled. Customers who have chosen a third-party supplier will not receive an opt-out package and will not be automatically enrolled. They may join the program at any time, but they may be subject to penalties or early termination fees from the third-party supplier if they switch to the electricity aggregation program during the term of their contract with their chosen supplier.
