The Sudbury Fire Department received a donation of 10 face shields from Acton 3D PPE on Wednesday.

“Items such as these have been difficult to get through our regular procurement channels,” said Fire Chief John Whalen.  “This donation provides much needed protection for our Advanced Life Support personnel.”

Acton 3D PPE is an organization of local students, teachers, engineers, friends and family members of medical professionals trying to do their part to help alleviate the PPE shortage.  Using 3D printers, they are fabricating critical equipment to protect health care professionals and EMS providers.

“We are grateful for this type of local action.  It is precisely what is needed at times like this,” said Chief Whalen.  “I would like to express my sincere thanks to Jake, Ben and Debbie Simon of Sudbury for thinking of us, and thank Acton 3D PPE for their innovative thinking and generous donation.”
