Firefighters were called to Nobscot Road this morning (December 21) for a report of fire and smoke coming out around a chimney outside a living room wall.  Conditions were challenging with recent snowfall and ice and a fire hydrant that didn’t work.  A second alarm called in Maynard, Wayland, and Framingham who assisted in laying out 1,000 feet of hose, tearing apart walls and floors in the fire area to get at the origin, and providing general support.  Marlboro, Hudson, and Concord provided coverage to our stations.  Damage was limited to the walls and floors next to the chimney and the residents were able to return to a major cleanup.  Excellent work by Sudbury Firefighters with help from our mutual aid partners made this quick stop possible and plucked a little joy out of what could have been a bleak Christmas.
