The Sudbury Historical Commission is currently seeking residents of the community with special interests and knowledge of historic preservation to serve as members of the Commission. Members are expected to attend monthly meetings, or as needed, which are typically held on the third Tuesday of each month. The Historical Commission consists of seven (7) members who are appointed by the Town Manager, subject to approval by the Select Board.

The Historical Commission was established for the preservation, protection, and development of the historical or archaeological assets of the Town, has jurisdiction over all aspects of historic buildings, structures, and properties currently owned by the Town, or any such facilities that might be acquired. Currently these include the Hosmer House, the Haynes Garrison site on Water Row, the Revolutionary War Cemetery in the center of town, and other locations around the community. The Historical Commission is also responsible for administering the Demolition Delay Bylaw which enables the Commission to require a six month delay in demolition of buildings deemed to be of historical significance.

All interested residents are welcome to submit a Volunteer Application. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. The positions are for three-year terms.
