A special town meeting on purchase of land for affordable housing, the possibility of a Habitat for Humanity project in Sudbury and an upcoming town lottery for affordable homes are making housing news in Sudbury.

The League of Women Voters of Sudbury will sponsor a public forum, “Opening the Door: Affordable Housing in Sudbury” on these and other housing topics Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Sudbury Town Hall. Town officials will provide an overview of the community housing situation in Sudbury, including the proposed purchase of seven acres on Route 20 at Peakham Road using Community Preservation Act funds.

Residents will vote on this purchase at a special town meeting Dec.3. Speakers will also include representatives from the 495/MetroWest Corridor Partnership for a regional perspective, Greater Worcester Habitat for Humanity on a possible project in Sudbury, and a local teacher who won a recent housing lottery.

The forum is free and open to the public.
