The Town of Sudbury is seeking to hire a college or graduate level intern to work in the Information Systems Office for focused assignments dealing with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis. The internship will end on June 30, 2010.


Candidates with backgrounds in geography, geographic information systems, engineering and spatial analysis will be considered.


Candidates should possess good knowledge of Geographic mapping systems technology including, but not limited to ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop. Must have the ability to Collect data, keep accurate records and prepare reports. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Follow verbal and written instructions. Be detail-oriented when working with documents and information. Present information and explain concepts clearly, logically, with precision both in written and graphical form and in a manner understood by end users.


Establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department heads, other county employees and the public. Handle low to moderate levels of stress, meet deadlines and solve problems appropriate to the position. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Sit and occasionally stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Sufficient vision including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, which permits production and review of a wide variety of materials in both electronic and hardcopy forms. Have sufficient manual dexterity to make handwritten notations and which permits moderate to heavy use of a keyboard.


Be available for travel to different work sites and/or various meeting locations.
