The Memorial Day Committee invites you to please check out the changes to the 2012 Memorial Day Parade route on the interactive map. Click here to download the Memorial Day Parade Map (Acrobat).

View the events at each location, pick your spot to view the parade or come march with us and visit all the locations. Please send us your pictures of the 2012 Parade so we can include on the map great history of Sudbury and show the fun we all had at the Parade. Send your pictures to This interactive map was created by Ryan Norton of the Sudbury Information Systems Department. The map uses ArcMap 10, which is Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. In GIS, data layers are created to show the location of objects such as streets, buildings, and rivers. These layers are overlaid on top of each other. These layers were provided from companies such as MassGIS and PeopleGIS.

When the map is completed, it is exported to Adobe PDF which has a tool to set locations to a web page, which is how the interactive functions were created. The photos of the locations were taken by the Information Systems Department. Some of the photos were taken by Marissa Wiegel, and the rest were taken by Ryan Norton. Ryan Norton also shot and edited the videos on the news page about the Parade. Pictures can be sent to

Special thanks to Mark Thompson, the IT Director for the Town, and Ryan Norton who is a graduate of Clark University, where he received his Master’s Degree in Geographic Information Sciences for Development and the Environment, and the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Earth, Environmental, and Ocean Sciences.
