The Roadeo Event

Collaborating with Sudbury’s Police & Public Schools, MassBike will present a fun, free-of-charge outdoor program to show & tell vital, proven bicycle safety and operating skills to pre-registered mixed gender 5th Grade-age kids who are capable, but untrained riders.

How

Experienced, certified and insured MassBike instructors will conduct an approximately 3-hour session. The instructors will guide young participants in how to follow established bike safety riding principles and essential bike maintenance & operation practices… using lecture, demonstration, skill drills, and fun obstacle course.

All kids who complete the Roadeo will get a free backpack containing valuable safety gear plus will receive a Certificate of Completion!

Why

Everyday there are more cars, trucks, bicycles, scooters, and people walking… plus, more people speeding and fewer people being attentive to their movements and surroundings. Consequently, there are more ways for kids on bikes to have an accident, get hurt or worse. The Bike Safety Roadeo will benefit inexperienced riders by instilling timeless best practice safety ‘rules & tools of the road’ to make them smarter and safer whenever riding their bike.

Our goal: Avoid injuries by knowing your bike, knowing how to operate your bike safely, and knowing the importance of always being aware and focused to ride safely.

How to Register now

Approved pre-registration required. Enrollment limited to 40 participants who are 5th Grade-age and capable of riding without assistance.

Valid registrations will be accepted and confirmed on ‘first email post received’ basis only.

Act today! Download a Roadeo registration form off the “News & Announcements” section of the Sudbury Public Schools website (www.sudbury.k12.ma.us).

Review the form, fully fill out the form and sign & return form… only parent-signed forms will be accepted for a child’s Roadeo participation.

Send the completed form to: SPDcurtisroadeo@sudbury.ma.us

It takes a “village”… to organize a Roadeo.

The Roadeo needs Volunteers to help stage the event! The event will need approximately 15 adult/“junior adult” volunteers to fill various t.b.d. roles on-site on event day. If any interested person believes they can help and commit to the full event (i.e., on-site 12p–4:30p), please email: curtisroadeo@AOL.com
