Community Preservation Committee Appointments
The Town of Sudbury has now completed the acceptance process and can begin implementing the provisions of the Community Preservation Act. The first step, following approval of the Attorney General of Sudbury’s Bylaw (passed at the 2002 April Town Meeting), will be to appoint members to a Community Preservation Committee, which shall “study the needs, possibilities and resources of the Town regarding community preservation” and “make recommendation to the Town Meeting for the acquisition, creation and preservation of open space; for the acquisition and preservation of historic resources; for the acquisition, creation and preservation of land for recreational use; for the creation, preservation and support of community housing; and for rehabilitation or restoration of such open space, historic resources, land for recreational use and community housing that is acquired or created as provided in MGL Chapter 44B.” The Conservation Commission, Sudbury Historical Commission, Planning Board, Park and Recreation Commission, Sudbury Housing Authority, Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen will each appoint one of its members to serve on the Committee. Additionally, the Board of Selectmen will appoint two residents to complete the Committee. Any resident who is interested in being considered for one of these two appointments should contact the Selectmen’s Office (978-443-8891, ext. 382) to receive an application form. Please submit applications by May 28, 2002.
