Sudbury Celebrates 250 – Upcoming Events

The 250th anniversary of the muster of Sudbury Minute and Militia and the march to Concord was marked on 4/19/2025, but there are still many stories to tell and events planned before the 250th anniversary of Independence Day on July 4th, 2026. Be sure to mark your calendar!

 

  • July 4, 2025: Join Sudbury 250 at the Sudbury 4th of July Parade.
  • September 21, 2025: Presentation and firing of cannon to commemorate the movement of Ticonderoga Cannon under the command of Henry Knox. Night firing, Wayside Inn grounds.
  • September 27, 2025: Sudbury 250 sponsors the Colonial Faire and Muster of Fyfe & Drum at the Wayside Inn with living history demonstrations of life in colonial New England.
  • October 25, 2025: The Battle of Red Horse Tavern, a re-enactment of a colonial battle to control the crossroads.
  • May 2026: Sudbury 250 Day, a party for the whole town. Minutemen drills, Colonial dress parade, crafting, Period music and dancing, food trucks and more.
  • July 4, 2026: Dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence after the parade.

In addition to the larger celebrations, we also have presentation of key aspects of Sudbury Contribution to the birth of our nation

  • November 16, 2025: Presentation of the Wayside Inn History.
  • January 26, 2026: Cannon firing and a presentation on the history of Noble Artillery train, which transported cannon captured at Fort Ticonderoga through Sudbury to Dorchester Heights by Colonel Knox, The cannon forced the British to evacuate Boston on March 17, 1776.
  • February 15, 2026: Presentation on Ezekiel Howe, second in command of all militia at the Battle of Concord, April 19th, 1775
  • March 15, 2026: An indigenous perspective on the 250th anniversary of the Revolution.
