A water sample was collected at Willis Lake on June 21, 2016. Laboratory analysis showed cyanobacteria levels of 68,900 cells/ml, below the MDPH guideline level of 70,000 cells/ml. Microcystin toxin level was <1 ppb.

As the cell count is below the MDPH guideline level, an advisory is not necessary at this time. Bacteria levels have been known to fluctuate based on weather and temperature changes. Frequent hand washing and/or sanitizing can minimize exposure to harmful bacteria.

Willis Lake is not a permitted bathing beach and swimming is not allowed.
