Sudbury is working closely with National Grid to replace old and leak-prone natural gas mains.  A 2011 Federal “Call to Action” requires all steel and cast iron pipes be replaced as expeditiously as possible to deliver safe and reliable energy to the community.  Sudbury is assisting National Grid with this project by allowing winter construction on Mossman Road, Willis Road, and Loker Road.  As part of this project, National Grid will also replace the natural gas service piping that connects the main to the customer’s gas meters.  Pipe replacement on private property is not expected but will be required if meters need relocation to the outside of the home.  Approximately 60 homes are within the construction limits.

Construction is expected to begin in late January 2017 and is anticipated to last through spring, weather permitting.  This schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions and other matters beyond our control.  Both detours and delays are expected so please plan an alternate route around the area.  School bus route schedules will not be affected by the project.  This Information will be updated when deemed necessary.

National Grid is available to answer any questions about this project at 1-781-907-3804 or for general questions residents may contact the Department of Public Works at 1-978-440-5421.
