Sudbury Fire Receives Donation of Intubation Boxes
The Sudbury Fire Department is immensely grateful to have received Intubation Boxes from both Intubationbox.org and Maybewecanhelp.org. These boxes provide an additional layer of protection when aerosol-generating procedures are performed.
Intubationbox.org is a group of volunteers helping frontline health care responders and hospitals in the New England area. Their boxes are a modified version of the aerosol/intubation box designed by Dr. Lai Hsien-Yun of Taiwan.
Maybewecanhelp.org is a group of Boston area construction professionals who have joined together to make and donate devices to help protect healthcare workers and first responders while they intubate patients. The boxes are being distributed to hospitals and fire departments from Boston to New York.
βThese boxes are critical in helping to contain the spread of bodily fluids during intubation procedures,β stated Chief John M. Whalen. βWe are now fortunate enough to be able to equip each of our ambulances with these devices.β
βI continue to be amazed by the generosity and innovation of local individuals and businesses,β said Chief Whalen. βAnd I want to thank our own Advanced Life Support personnel for their vigilance identifying the tools we need and procuring them through unusual channels such as these.β
Please see Maybewecanhelp.org and Intubationbox.org for more information on these wonderful organizations, to make a donation, or to volunteer.
