On February 7, 2019, Whole Foods representatives contacted Town Manager Rodrigues regarding obtaining an Alcohol Serving License for their Sudbury store. The representatives were informed that there are no Serving Licenses available in Sudbury, and they requested a meeting to discuss their concept. At the meeting, Town Manager Rodrigues advised that, as no licenses are available, Whole Foods may put their proposal before the Board of Selectmen and petition Town Meeting to approve requesting a license quota increase from the State Legislature.

Whole Foods representatives met with the Board of Selectmen on March 12, 2019. They presented their ideas and discussed them with the Board. The proposed concept would include serving alcoholic beverages from the coffee bar currently in the store. The discussion concluded with the representatives stating that they will return at a future Board of Selectmen meeting to discuss the matter further.
