Thinking about running for a town office or school committee position but aren't sure how to start? The League of Women Voters of Sudbury will sponsor a Run for Office workshop today, Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at the Sudbury Town Hall. (Snow date is Jan. 17.)

The workshop is designed for anyone who wants to know more about running for office or who might serve as a campaign manager or campaign treasurer.

Rosemary Harvell, Sudbury Town Clerk, will explain the filing procedures and deadlines to run for town offices and for school committee in Sudbury’s town election March 25. Jason Tait, director of communications and public education, in the Office of Campaign and Political Finance of the Massachusetts Secretary of State’s office, will discuss the financial requirements of a campaign for town office or school committee.

While the filing deadlines discussed during the workshop will be specific to this Sudbury election, the general information on filing procedures and campaign financing applies to the elections in all Massachusetts towns.

People interested in running for office in other towns are welcome to attend the workshop, which is free and open to the public.
