Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues Appointed Sudbury Town Manager

Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues to Take Office as Sudbury Town Manager on November 1, 2015

Interim Town Manager Maryanne Bilodeau is pleased to announce that on October 6, 2015, Sudbury’s Board of Selectmen voted to approve the employment contract of Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues. Ms. Murphy-Rodrigues will assume the position of Sudbury Town Manager on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

The rigorous Town Manager search process, facilitated by Municipal Resources, Inc (MRI) included the vetting of 37 applications, input sessions for community stakeholders, applicant qualification and essay review, and interviews by a Sudbury community panel as well as MRI’s panel of management consultants. The field was narrowed to 3 finalists who were interviewed by the Board of Selectmen on Thursday, September 10. After the conclusion of the interviews that evening, Ms. Murphy-Rodrigues was selected as Sudbury’s third Town Manager by a unanimous vote of the Board.

Ms. Murphy-Rodrigues is the Chief of Staff and General Counsel in the City of Everett and serves as the City’s Chief Administrative Officer. She has a strong municipal background as well as high recommendations from those who have worked with over the course of her career. Ms. Murphy-Rodrigues had the following comments to share, “I am very excited to be joining the team in Sudbury. I’m looking forward to working closely with the Selectmen and to meeting the residents over the coming weeks and months. I was extremely honored to be chosen by the Selectmen and I know that working together we will do great things for Sudbury.“

Interim Town Manager Bilodeau is appreciative for the support she has received over the last eight months. “I’d like to thank Town of Sudbury Staff, Volunteers and Residents for making my time as Interim Town Manager productive and collaborative.
