Go Sudbury! Program Update

(Sticky Post) Published

August 28, 2025

| Sudbury Transportation Committee

Effective September 1, 2025, the Go Sudbury! Uber and Go Sudbury! Taxi programs will become simply the Go Sudbury! limited ride low cost transportation program. While we are pleased to be able to continue to provide the program, several changes were necessary in order to ensure that we will be able to offer it for many years to come. Please see below for details.

Cost Share and Eligibility Changes

Effective September 1, 2025

Beginning September 1, 2025, the Go Sudbury! Uber and Taxi services will transition into a limited-use ride program. Uber will serve as the primary provider, with accommodations made for individuals needing other transportation options, such as wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

Go Sudbury! Program

The Go Sudbury! Uber Rides Program is a Town-funded, partially subsidized, transportation program provided via Uber to get from one place to another if no other public transportation is available.

You must have a private account with Uber on your smartphone for this service. An Uber Clinic Technology Support volunteer will assist participants with issues related to downloading and using the Uber application on your smartphone for this program. If you are an existing Go Sudbury! Uber Rides Program user, you can continue to use smartphone application for the Go Sudbury! program, however, you will now need to select your personal profile rather than the “GoSudbury Uber Rides” profile for a ride through the updated program. All current GoSudbury! riders must re-register for continued service.

Destinations

All rides must begin or end in Sudbury. Service is provided to the Logan Express Shuttle in Framingham, but not to Logan Airport.

Rides are provided for:

  • non-urgent healthcare appointments
  • vaccination appointments
  • work
  • shopping
  • accessing community resources

Cost

Qualifying riders could receive up to $30 in Uber vouchers each month. Alternative transportation options may require an additional rider co-pay.

Riders will be responsible for any costs beyond this amount.

Qualified riders must request vouchers each month. Sudbury has a limited number of vouchers available, so it is recommended to apply as soon as possible.

Please note that vouchers expire monthly and unused vouchers may affect your eligibility in future months.

Eligibility

 Go Sudbury! riders must be

  • A Sudbury resident
  • 18 years of age or older
  • and meet at least one of the following criteria:
    • Have a temporary or permanent physical or cognitive limitation that impacts driving
    • Be enrolled in at least one of the following: MassHealth, SNAP, Subsidized Housing, Utility Discount or Fuel Assistance, Veterans Benefits, or WIC

Application

All current GoSudbury! riders must re-register for continued service.

To apply for the updated program, please complete the application at https://forms.gle/ey7mA5SiziCmd72b6. Applications will be reviewed by the Community Social Worker and the staff at the Senior Center. Further voucher request information will be sent upon program qualification.

Accessibility

As Uber does not provide wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAV), accommodations will be made for individuals requiring such services. See contact information in Questions section below.

Alternately, for rides in a WAV vehicle, please consider one of Sudbury’s transportation programs:
