The Hosmer House will host its annual Open House on December 3rd & 4th and December 10th & 11th, 2016.

This year’s theme of “A Painter’s Palette” will honor the noted artist Florence Hosmer, who lived in the house from 1896 until her passing in 1978.

Numerous Sudbury clubs and nonprofits have accepted the challenge to interpret a specific room’s paintings with their festive decorating ideas.

The individual groups and titles for this year include:

  • The Sudbury Villagers (A Fashion Palette),
  • Sudbury Garden Club (Cornucopia of Color),
  • Parmenter Foundation (Pretty in Pink),
  • Sudbury Girl Scouts (A Faerie Palette),
  • Thursday Garden Club (A Palette of Flowers)
  • The Sudbury Historical Society (Snow Day Today-School’s Closed).

First time participants include:

  • The Daughters of the American Revolution (Florence Paints Her Family Tree)
  • Sudbury Valley Trustees (An Outdoor Palette).

The Sudbury Boy Scouts will once again generously donate a tree from their Holiday Tree sale, which will be on display at the back patio for all to view and enjoy.

Commissioner Barbara Bahlkow and Dottie Sears will decorate the first floor Country Store with the artist original easels and painting artifacts (Florence’s Palette). Holiday gifts will be available for purchase including the colorful Sudbury throw blanket depicting famous local historic landmarks.

The Hosmer House Open House is both Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am until 4:00pm.

Please join the Sudbury Historical Commission in celebrating the holiday with complimentary refreshments and holiday cheer.
