The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting extreme cold across the region beginning Thursday night and lasting into Friday morning.  Dangerously cold wind chills of -10 degrees along the coast to -25 degrees across Northwest MA are expected as overnight lows drop into the single digits to several degrees below-zero.  Friday high temperatures are forecasted to be in the teens.  Sustained west winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are possible.  Strongest winds are expected between 8pm Thursday through 4am Friday. Accumulating snow is forecasted starting late Friday night into Saturday morning.  Expect hazardous driving conditions and visibility reduced to half a mile.  Transition to rain is expected during Saturday from south to north and a brief period of freezing rain during the transition is possible across the interior with the potential for a light glaze.
